Is there a way to import data from streaming services directly like Netflix, Amazon Video or Disney?
Importing Watch History from Streaming Services
Simkl’s goal is to centralize your viewing progress, but direct imports depend on each service’s available data. Currently, Simkl offers automated syncing for Netflix and Crunchyroll via its browser extension. Other platforms lack accessible watch‑history pages or official APIs, making automated imports complicated—though manual imports via CSV/JSON remain an option.
Automatically importing your streaming history ensures accuracy and convenience—no manual entry required.
Simkl’s Chrome extension (“Enhancer”) sync with your Netflix and Crunchyroll to capture what you watch. Unfortunately, services like Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime, and HBO Max either don’t have a history pages or provide no APIs, so Simkl can’t sync them yet.
NetflixCrunchyrollIf such data becomes available, Simkl welcomes community tips to expand its import tools.
1. Using the Simkl Chrome Enhancer Extension
Browser Extensions
2. Limitations & Unsupported Services
Why Only Netflix and Crunchyroll?
Watch History Pages: Netflix and Crunchyroll both have viewing history page.
APIs & Privacy: Services like Disney+ and Amazon Prime don’t have a detailed history or provide stable public APIs.
Data Accuracy: Amazon Prime’s “Continue Watching” often logs trailer views or partial playback, leading to false positives.
Keep in mind that although Amazon Prime has some watch history is incorrect and contains shows and movies as watched even if you just watched a trailer or a few seconds of it. For that reason we are not able to import such data as it will result in incorrect watch history data.
3. Submitting New Import Suggestions
If you discover a hidden API endpoint or watch-history page for other services, Simkl can potentially build new import tools.

Community Collaboration
Simkl’s team evaluates submissions and, where feasible, adds new importers to the extension.
While Simkl’s automatic imports currently cover Netflix and Crunchyroll, its framework is ready for expansion. By using the Chrome Enhancer, you enjoy seamless progression tracking without manual entry.
For other services, keep an eye on Simkl’s updates or manually import via CSV/JSON until new APIs emerge.
Your feedback and discoveries can drive the next wave of supported streaming imports!
