# Browser Extensions

The Simkl extension enhances your Simkl experience by automatically tracking your viewing progress on popular streaming platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll, and syncing it with your Simkl account.

## Google Chrome

To install the Simkl Google Chrome extension, you can visit the Chrome Web Store and search for "Simkl". Once you find the extension, click on "Add to Chrome" and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

## Microsoft Edge Browser & Firefox

Simkl offers a browser extension for Microsoft Edge. To install it, go to the Microsoft Edge Add-ons page and search for "Simkl". Click on "Get" to install the extension.

### 1. Can I watch Crunchyroll or Netflix on my TV, Roku, or smartphone and still have SIMKL update automatically?

Yes! You don't have to watch anime or movie directly in your computer's browser for SIMKL to track it.

For example, imagine you watch three episodes of an anime on Crunchyroll using your Roku device.

Later, when you open Chrome on your computer with the SIMKL extension installed, the extension can check your Crunchyroll watch history and synchronize those episodes to SIMKL.

This also applies when watching Crunchyroll or Netflix through other devices that update the same Crunchyroll or Netflix account's watch history.

#### Important: Does my computer need to be running?

The browser extension runs on your computer, not directly on your TV or mobile device.

This means:

* Your computer needs to be running for the extension to perform synchronization.
* Chrome and the extension need to be available to perform the sync.
* You may occasionally need to open Chrome to synchronize your latest Crunchyroll watch history.
* If your computer is turned off, synchronization will wait until the browser and extension are available again.

Example: You watch anime on your television throughout the weekend while your computer is switched off. On Monday, you open Chrome with the SIMKL extension installed. The extension can then synchronize your recently watched Crunchyroll episodes.

You do not need to keep your computer running every time you watch anime, but synchronization may be delayed until your next browser session.

### 2. Will SIMKL Sync My Watch History While My Computer Is Turned Off?

No. The browser extension cannot run while your computer is switched off.

You can continue watching Netflix or Crunchyroll on another device. Your viewing activity can be synchronized later, provided it remains available in the streaming platform's history.

When you next open your computer and Chrome, the extension can resume synchronization.

### 3. Can I Connect My Crunchyroll or Netflix Account to SIMKL and Automatically Track What I Watch?

Yes! SIMKL supports importing and automatically synchronizing your Crunchyroll watch history using the SIMKL browser extension.

With the extension installed, you can keep your Crunchyroll viewing activity connected to your SIMKL account without manually marking every anime episode as watched.

#### How does it work?

1. Install the SIMKL browser extension in Google Chrome.
2. Sign in to your SIMKL account.
3. Sign in to your Crunchyroll account in the browser.
4. Allow the extension to access and synchronize your Crunchyroll watch history.
5. Once synchronized, your watched anime and episodes can be added to your SIMKL watch history.
6. Continue watching Crunchyroll normally. The extension can synchronize newly watched episodes during subsequent syncs.
