# What is the SIMKL Lists App?

**SIMKL Lists**, the ultra-minimalist TV, Anime, and Movie tracking app that helps you keep on top of your watchlists no matter where you are. Mark what you’ve seen, plan what to watch next, and never miss a new episode or movie release.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the SIMKL Lists app—what it is, how to use it, its features, and advanced tips to get the most out of your experience.

SIMKL Lists is a **mobile companion** app for your SIMKL.com account. It **does not** stream content but provides a **streamlined way** to track and manage what you’ve watched or plan to watch:

* **TV Shows**
* **Anime**
* **Movies**

Perfect for on-the-go updates, the app supports **iOS**, **Android**, and even a **Chrome extension**—so you never miss a beat (or a new episode!).

## App Layout & Navigation

1. **Top Toolbar**
   * **Filters**: Seen / Aired / Next Episode / A–Z
   * **Search Bar**: Quickly find a title in your lists
   * **Settings Gear**: Access account, sync, and theme options
2. **Bottom Navigation**
   * **TV (📺)** / **Anime (🎭)** / **Movies (🎬):** Switch watchlists.
   * **📋 List Icon:** Choose sorting (Alphabetical, Rank, Next, Aired, DVD).

## Core Features

### 1. Tracking Your Watchlists

Tap the status icon to update your watch progress:

| Icon               | Meaning           | Action                   |
| ------------------ | ----------------- | ------------------------ |
| ✅ **Check**        | You’ve watched it | Mark as **Completed**    |
| ⭐️ **Star**        | Plan to watch     | Add to **Plan to Watch** |
| ⏸️ **Pause**       | On hold           | Add to **On Hold**       |
| 👎 **Thumbs Down** | Dropped           | Add to **Dropped**       |
| 👁️ **Eye**        | Watching          | Currently **Watching**   |

> **Tip:** Tap again to change status (e.g., from “Plan to Watch” → “Watching”).

#### a) Quick Watch Lists & Sorting

SIMKL Lists automatically reflects the six core SIMKL statuses:

1. **Watching**
2. **Plan to Watch**
3. **Completed**
4. **On Hold**
5. **Dropped**
6. **Not in My List**

Use the **bottom-right “List” icon** to switch between:

* **A–Z**: Alphabetical
* **Rank**: SIMKL community ranking
* **Next**: Upcoming episodes (TV/Anime)
* **Aired**: Recently aired episodes
* **DVD**: DVD release dates (Movies)

#### b) Next Episodes & Air Dates

* **Next Tab**: Shows your next unwatched episode in each series.
* **Aired Tab**: Displays recently aired episodes you haven’t marked as watched.
* **Episode Counter**: Next episode number and season will be displayed under the title.

> **Use Case**: Instantly know that Episode 5 of “My Favorite Show” aired last night and mark it watched once you view it.

#### c) Movie Releases (Theater & DVD)

* **Theater**: Shows current box-office hits in your **Plan to Watch** list, complete with gross revenue.
* **DVD**: Lists DVD or home media releases for movies you plan to watch.

> **Example**: See “Final Destination Bloodlines” released in theaters for $50M and tap “Plan to Watch” to add it.

### 2. Show Overview Page

* **Star ★10** = your user rating for the show (out of 10).
* **S 8.4 #245** = Simkl’s average score (8.4) and global rank (245).
* **IMDb 8.6 xxx votes** = IMDb rating and vote count.
* **‘Watch trailer’** and **‘Mark specific episodes’** shortcuts.
* The **eye icon + “Watching”** indicates current watch-status; tapping lets you change status.

### 3. Seasons & Episodes Listing

* **Solid check mark ✔️ + progress bar + “9/9”** indicates Season 1 is fully watched.
* **Empty circle ◯ + grey bar + “0/7”** indicates Season 2 has not yet been started.
* **Specials** often have their own season grouping, with count of specials available.
* You can scroll through to mark individual episodes manually.

### 4. Dark & Light Themes

* **Auto Switch**: By default, the app respects your device’s system theme.
* **Manual Toggle**: In Settings (⚙️), choose between Dark or Light theme.
* **Eye Comfort**: The dark theme ensures comfortable night-time browsing.

### 5. Sync with SIMKL Website

* The mobile app syncs in **real time** with your [SIMKL.com profile](https://simkl.com).
* Any change you make on mobile is **instantly reflected** in your web dashboard and vice versa.

## Advanced Usage & Pro Tips

* **Hide Anime or Movies**: In Settings (⚙️), disable sections you don’t use for a cleaner interface.
* **Hide/Show Posters**: From Settings (⚙️) you can **toggle off** poster images for a **text-only** minimalist view—ideal for slow connections.
