If you’re not receiving notifications on the Simkl mobile app or via browser prompts, you may miss out on watch reminders, list updates, or community replies. This guide helps diagnose and fix common notification issues.
Blocked by AdBlockers: Extensions like AdBlock, uBlock Origin, or privacy-focused plugins can block push notification scripts.
Disabled Notifications in Settings: Browser or mobile settings may have notifications turned off.
Expired Notification Token: The app’s registration token can expire or become invalid, preventing new notifications from being delivered.
Browser
Click your adblocker icon in the toolbar (e.g., AdBlock, uBlock, etc).
Select Pause on this site or Disable on simkl.com.
Refresh the page to apply changes.
Mobile App
Some Android browsers block trackers by default. Open Chrome settings > Advanced > Notifications and ensure simkl.com is allowed.
VPN or network-level adblock (AdGuard, etc) must allow *.simkl.com
.
Simkl Account Notifications
Go to Settings → Notifications on simkl.com.
Ensure Browser Notifications (for desktop) and Mobile Push (for apps) are toggled ON.
Mobile App Settings
On iOS/Android, open Settings → Apps → Simkl Lists.
Tap Notifications and enable Allow notifications.
Open Simkl Lists app on your mobile device.
Tap the ⚙️ Settings icon.
Select Enable Notifications to re-subscribe.
If prompted, allow permission to show notifications.
If re-enabling doesn’t work, your app may need a fresh token:
Uninstall the Simkl Lists app.
Restart your device (optional but recommended).
Reinstall Simkl Lists from the App Store / Google Play Store.
Sign in and re-enable notifications as described above.
Resetting this way forces the server to issue a new push token, clearing any stale registrations.
Network Restrictions: Corporate or school networks may block ports required for push notifications. Try on mobile data or a different Wi-Fi.
Battery Optimization (Android): Some OEMs (e.g., Huawei, Xiaomi) aggressively kill background apps.
Go to Settings → Battery → Battery optimization.
Exclude Simkl Lists from optimizations.
Do Not Disturb: Ensure Do Not Disturb or Focus modes aren’t silencing Simkl notifications.
If the in-app notification toggle isn’t working, try subscribing via your mobile browser:
Open your mobile browser.
Tap Turn on when prompted to allow push notifications.
This method uses the browser’s push system and can serve as a backup if the app’s toggle fails.
