Helping to build and maintain Simkl’s database is a community-driven effort. Contributors can earn recognition by adding missing external IDs (MAL, AniDB, TMDb) and reporting incorrect matches.
This page details how the Leaderboard works, what contribution tasks are available, and how you can climb the ranks as a Simkl expert.
The Contributor Leaderboard showcases the top Simkl users who have added or validated the most external IDs and recaps. Leaderboard positions are determined by the total number of approved contributions:
MAL Approved: MyAnimeList IDs you’ve correctly added
AniDB Approved: AniDB IDs you’ve correctly added
TMDb Approved: TMDb IDs you’ve correctly added
Netflix Approved: Netflix entries you’ve contributed
Total: Sum of all approved contributions

What to Do:
Locate a Simkl anime entry without a MAL link.
In the MAL URL field, paste the official MyAnimeList page URL (e.g., https://myanimelist.net/anime/21/Example).
Click Add.
Moderator Review: Submissions are verified by moderators. Once approved, you earn a point on the leaderboard.
Report Issues: If an entry is incorrect, click Report as Incorrect to flag it for review.

What to Do:
Open the MAL page you linked earlier.
Scroll to External Links on MAL and copy the AniDB URL.
Paste it into the AniDB URL field next to the corresponding MAL entry.
Click Add.
Notes: If there is no AniDB link on MAL, enter 0 to mark it missing.
Moderator Review: Correct entries earn you leaderboard points.

What to Do:
Find a Simkl TV show without a TMDb link.
Enter the TMDb URL (e.g., https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/12345-show-name) in the TMDB URL field.
Click Add.
Moderator Review: Approved matches count toward your TMDb Approved total.
After you submit an ID, moderators check the match:
Approve: Click the green Approve button if the suggested URL is correct.
Report as Incorrect: Click the gray Report as Incorrect button if the URL does not correspond to the Simkl entry.
Your approval contributes positively to the leaderboard; reporting incorrect entries cleans up the database.

Rank: Your position based on approved contributions.
Username & Badges: VIP, PRO, Supporter status.
MAL Approved, AniDB Approved, TMDb Approved, Netflix Approved: Individual counts per category.
Total: Sum of all your approved contributions.

Check the show’s title, year, and synopsis to ensure the correct external match.
Use Official URLs:
Always source IDs from official sites (MyAnimeList, AniDB, TMDb).
Flag Errors Promptly:
If you see a mislink, reporting it helps maintain data integrity.
