# Suggestion Feature
Organizing your favorite content on SIMKL is only half the experience, **sharing and collaborating** is the other. That’s where SIMKL’s **Suggestion Feature** comes in.
The **Suggestion Feature** allows users (including non-collaborators) to suggest movies, TV shows, or anime to be added to a list. This is useful when you want recommendations from followers or community members.
Whether you’re building a ranked list, curating a themed watchlist, or collaborating with a friend, the Suggestion tool allows **you and others to recommend titles** directly to any list, without altering its core contents. It’s a smart, collaborative way to build watchlists together, or collect title ideas without committing to them.

## What Is the Suggestion Feature?
The **Suggestion Feature** on SIMKL allows users to propose movies, TV shows, or anime titles for inclusion in a **custom list**, without directly modifying the list itself.
Instead of instantly adding a title to the list, the suggestion is stored in a separate **suggestions section**, where the list creator (or collaborators) can choose to approve or ignore each entry.
> 💬 It’s like saying: “Hey, you should consider adding this to your list”, without directly editing someone’s content or constantly commenting.

## **How to Suggest a** Title to a List
Here’s how you can propose a new movie, TV show, or anime to a list:
#### Step 1: Visit any Public List
* Navigate to any **public custom list** (your own or someone else’s).
* You will see a **"Suggest a \[Movie / TV Show / Anime]"** button, depending on the content type. (And if Suggestions is allowed)
#### Step 2: Click “Suggest a Title”
* Located either at the top of the list or in the list editor view.
* A search bar will appear.
#### Step 3: Search for a Title
* Start typing the name of the movie, show, or anime.
* SIMKL will show auto-suggestions based on its database.
* Select the correct title.
#### Step 4: Submit the Suggestion
* Click **“Suggest”** after selecting the title.
* A confirmation will appear, and the suggestion is now visible to the list creator.

## How List Owners Manage Suggestions
If you’re the list creator or collaborator, you can view and manage incoming suggestions in your list editor.
#### Where to find them:
* Open your custom list
* Click the **“Suggestions”** tab (next to the “Add Title” or “Import” options)
From here, you can:
* ✅ **Approve** a title (adds it to the list)
* ❌ **Ignore** or remove a suggestion
* 💬 View all pending suggestions in one place
#### List Creators:
* Can receive suggestions from others
* Can approve or ignore suggestions
* Can suggest titles to their own list as a planning tool
#### Other Users:
* Can suggest titles to any **public list** (if suggestions are enabled)
* Can propose entries even if they’re not collaborators

* Suggestions do **not** alter your list until you approve them and later save this list. This ensures that your list remains curated while still welcoming community input
* Suggestion access is controlled by the list owner. They can disable suggestions if desired.

## How to Enable or Disable Suggestions on a SIMKL List
Not every list needs outside input. Some are collaborative, community-driven rankings—others are private collections or personal watchlists. That’s why SIMKL allows list owners to **control whether or not other users can suggest titles** using a built-in toggle.
Whether you want to **invite ideas from others** or **keep full control of your list’s contents**, this feature gives you complete flexibility.
1. **Go to the List You Want to Edit**
* From your profile, navigate to **My Lists**, then click the list you want to manage.
2. **Click “Edit List”**
* This takes you into the list editor view.
3. **Scroll Down to the Suggestion Toggle**
* Just below the list action buttons (Suggest, Add, Import), you'll find a toggle labeled **“Allow Suggestions”**.
4. **Toggle On or Off**
* 🔘 Enable: Turns on the Suggestion Feature. Users will now see the "Suggest a \[Movie/TV/Anime]" button.
* 🔘 Disable: Hides the button and blocks incoming suggestions.
5. **Save Your List**
* Any changes made will only be applied once you save the list.

When a list owner clicks **“Approve”**, the suggested title is automatically added to the list.
If the list is a Ranked List, you’ll need to manually assign its position. If it’s a regular list, it will be appended to the end by default (until reordered).

Only if your list is set to **Public** and the **“Allow Suggestions”** option is enabled. If suggestions are disabled, users will not see the “Suggest a Title” button.
