SIMKL offers a powerful Collaborative Feature that allows users to create, share, and manage custom lists with friends, family, or community members. Whether you're organizing your Favorite lists for movies, TV shows, or anime, SIMKL provides an intuitive way to invite collaborators, control permissions, and manage contributions effectively.
This documentation covers everything you need to know about Collaborative Features on SIMKL, including adding collaborators, managing permissions, handling suggestions, and frequently asked questions.
A Collaborative List on SIMKL is a shared list that allows multiple users to contribute by adding, modifying, or suggesting items. The list creator has full control over the list and can set different permission levels for collaborators.
Navigate to Your Custom List
Go to My Lists in the SIMKL dashboard.
Open the list you want to make collaborative.
Go to the Collaborators Tab
Click on the Collaborators section.
You’ll see an option to Add Collaborator.
Enter the Username, ID, or Profile URL
Search for the SIMKL user you want to invite.
Click on their profile and send an invitation.
Assign Permissions
Choose between Full Permissions or Specific Permissions (explained below).
Confirm & Send Invitation
Once added, the collaborator will receive a notification.
They need to accept the invite to start managing the list.
SIMKL allows the list creator to set custom permissions for each collaborator. This ensures that you maintain full control over how your list is managed.
The list creator has full control over permissions.
A collaborator with Full Permissions can:
Add, remove, and rearrange list items.
Approve or reject suggestions made by other users.
Edit list details, including title, description, and tags.
Modify sorting options and background images.
Cannot remove the list creator.
Has all the permissions
The creator can manually enable or disable individual actions for each collaborator. If you do not want to grant full control:

Once collaborators are added, the list creator can manage them through the Collaborator Tab, this allows the list creator to monitor and manage activity within the shared list.
Go to the Collaborators Tab within your list.
Click on the collaborator’s name to adjust their permissions.
Switch between Full Permissions or Specific Permissions.
Click Save to apply changes.
Locate the collaborator in the list.
Click the Remove button next to their name.
Confirm the action to revoke access.
Only the list creator has the ability to remove collaborators.
SIMKL makes it easy to manage and discover collaborative lists through filters.

The Suggestion Feature allows users (including non-collaborators) to suggest movies, TV shows, or anime to be added to a list. This is useful when you want recommendations from followers or community members.
Open any Public Custom List that allows suggestions.
Click "Suggest an Item" near the title/description of the list.
Search for the movie, TV show, or anime you want to suggest.
Click Submit to add it to the suggestions queue.
The list owner or an assigned collaborator with approval permissions can review suggestions.
Click Approve & Add to List to accept the suggestion.
Click Delete to remove it from the suggestions queue.
