Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://docs.simkl.org/how-to-use-simkl/advanced-usage/import-export-data/exporting-from-simkl/faq/is-it-possible-to-export-data-from-specific-categories-like-movies-tv-shows-or-anime.md).

# Is it possible to export data from specific categories, like movies, TV shows, or anime?

By default, export contains all categories in one file.

When you export using a CSV file, you can open it in Excel and filter the Type column to get the specific type category.

JSON export also contains the category types but it may be harder to edit and filter that data without building some kind of tool for your needs.

You also have a third option to use the API (<https://api.simkl.com/>) where you can specify only to get specific types like only shows or only movies from the [Sync endpoint](https://simkl.docs.apiary.io/#reference/sync/get-all-items/get-all-items-in-the-user's-watchlist).
